The institutional bundling up, realization and coordination of research and education activities in order to translate gender mainstreaming into action is standing in the centre of G/I/S/A's work. The matter of G/I/S/A is on the one side giving impulses for reducing gaps in knowledge and reducing problems of understanding about the different situations of women and men and on the other side developing the relation between women and men on both side's advatage.
In that way G/I/S/A makes a contribution to create the bases of scientific-founded and by needs and interests of citizens orientated equal rights policy.

In its function as competence centre for gender mainstreaming G/I/S/A has in cooperation with further experts an extensive service in the fields of research and information, education and international contacts:

		G/I/S/A acts as the host organisation of WiTEC-Germany and represents it as a member in the European Association for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology
		supported by the European Social Fond (ESF) and Ministry of Labour, Women, Health and Social Affairs
