Beschreibung
The aim of the research is to analyse the impact that new forms of work have on the way individuals organise their life and, as a consequence, on the gender relations. The effects of innovations in the forms of work have been dramatic, especially for men. Particular attention will be given to changes in the role of in society. This research will cover the following issues: innovations in the conditions of employment, changes in gender relations and self-concepts of men. The hypothesis is that, in a process where economic structures and values change, one way also expect a modification of gender relations. This should lead to a new type of \"masculinity\", e.g., to be definition of the position of men in society as well as of their self-concepts. These developments offer, however, opportunities for improving the quality of life of both men and women. The empirical analysis will focus on the individual and institutional conditions under which men will be able to deal with theses trends.
